Smiths Machinery Installation and Removals of Stourbridge, West midlands have recently put to work this FASSI F800BXP.24 Evolution fitted to a KING Heavy Duty step frame trailer.
This is the third Crane in their fleet and largest to date, capable of lifting 16,225kg at 4.20m. As with all modern Fassi’s in the Evolution range, the crane is equipped with a variety of innovative features that allow the operator to use the crane efficiently and safely while being able to see all the information from the crane’s electronic system via the digital display on the remote handset.
Managing Director of Smiths MIR, Pete Smith, tells us why he chose FASSI:
“Smiths MIR have found that machinery was increasing in size, weights and value, so we felt it was necessary to upgrade to a larger size crane and trailer. Fassi offered a great crane at a very competitive price. We can now offer a better service to customers with our own vehicle and crane which helps us keep competitive with price.
After taking delivery of the new Fassi crane, it was put straight to work. We were very impressed with how accurate the crane was with the radio remote control when lifting and positioning machinery, which is important when lifting into confined spaces with personnel close by. The Crane Centre were very helpful with all matters regarding specification and fitment of the crane. Smiths would like to thank them all for their help and advice”.

“IT WAS AN OBVIOUS CHOICE”
From Farms to Prisons, Hospitals to Data Centre’s, TGS are always available. That is why, when they came to invest in a new truck, FASSI was their first choice for a lorry loader. TGS was an existing FASSI customer, so they knew that nothing else would compare.
The F660AXP.23 gives the best power to weight ratio in its class, so it had to be coupled with a truck that was also well equipped & reliable. TGS decided to invest in a Scania for their new crane, which was supplied by Keltruck of West Bromwich. As with all projects, all parties worked closely before and during the build process to achieve maximum payload.
One interesting feature of this, is the hydraulically tilting supplementary outriggers, which were a special build for this installation. Since taking delivery of the vehicle, TGS have been praised for their attention to detail on the truck, as well as during lifting operations. The Crane Centre looks forward to a continued long lasting relationship with TGS over the coming years.
